Brand Anthem Film For The Tackle Shop

Early last year John Way from The Tackle Shop in Ennis reached out about shooting a brand anthem video for him. He wanted something to showcase their guided trip operation, as well as the incredible fishery and destination that the Upper Madison River is.

For fly fishermen, the Upper Madison is the pinnacle of fly fishing in the Western US. The incredible fishing pairs with the stunning scenery and small town lifestyle of rural Montana. It’s a place on angler’s bucket lists the world over. For good reason, too.

The challenge was capturing the experience in a digestible and entertaining format, while also speaking to the various aspects of the business and place. We picked the middle of July, during the peak of the renowned Salmonfly hatch, to shoot. The landscape is still green then, but it’s definitely high summer in Montana. In other words, it’s about as close to heaven as you’ll get on Earth.

Seven shoot days, three guided days in the boat, two long weekends, and countless fish caught got the footage, and the editing process began. Here’s what I ended up with:

Beyond this main film, I created eight reels for use on Instagram and YouTube. Along with the video deliverables, I created an online gallery of photos and provided those as well. It’s my philosophy that any larger project can work in tandem across all digital platforms. Each of those platforms demands different content, and being able to provide all of that means maximal value for the client. I also provided John a short cut for his website header, and much of the photography is now on the site.

The Tackle Shop is located right in the heart of Downtown Ennis, Montana and is the oldest operating fly shop in the state. Given the rich heritage of Montana and fly fishing, this makes it a landmark worthy of the trip in and of itself.

If you’re thinking of coming to Montana to fish, give John and his team a call. You won’t be disappointed.
